Several of my thoughts on attempting to be healthy, what it has indicated to me before, and what it indicate to me today. What does staying healthy represent to you?
Today I want to talk about the word healthy. Or the description of staying healthy. In 2020, what does the meaning of healthy even suggest?
I used to consider that health was one attempt and one attempt only. I was unsuspectingly misinterpreted by my own preoccupation of orthorexia, anorexia and binging. I considered eating clean was the exclusive approach. I labeled foods as bad and good. I ate the same things every single day for years. I weighed everything. I structured due to most of my life felt so out of organization. I trained every single day for at least an hour. I weighed myself all the time.
For years, I accepted that all of this was healthy because I was skinny, ate nutritive food and worked out. How I was strangely not right.
Reminiscing, I can notice how damaging I was to both myself and my connections all as I simply attempted be “healthy”. I didn’t favor myself some knowledge owing to it interfered with how I believed I attempted live.
Not only did I have these disputes, but I also judged others for their choices when it came to nutrition and training routines. Behind their backs, but sometimes in my perception. It was bad.
Nowadays are much contrasting. My thoughts of what constitute of being healthy has altered and I’m finally in this place of realization, which I never considered would be possible. I’ve also grown up quite a bit, trained compassion, adapted how to be kinder in belief, and loved myself unapolagetically. The finishing section is exclusively important as training to love and accept myself brought me to love and accept others. I could link and sympathize.
I’m not sure if you’ll agree, but I guess that most of our descriptions of attempting to be healthy have changed especially up the years.
Society and the media are invariably contributing us with continuous reports on how to eat, scientific data on what to shun, and how to lead the most awesome lives possible. Our fascination on attempting to be the healthiest, content humans all the time is tiring and can even be negative to our all over well-being. At times we dismiss that health has more than one context.
These are just a few representations of “trying to be healthy”:
• A tri-athlete is considered to be healthy.
• People who exercises 3x a week is thought to be to be healthy.
• Snacking on dessert can be combined in a wholesome diet.
• Green smoothies are a wholesome, wholesome snack or breakfast.
• Engaging in yoga is a stress alleviating method of health.
There are tons of black and white concepts of what staying healthy implies and so I confront you to consider thinking outside of what’s considered normal to you. To accept others perception of what health means to them and the cheerfulness it can bring to their lives. Whether it be green smoothies or acai bowls, running followed by pizza on the weekends, early morning yoga or absorbing in time for themselves; each person is exclusive and so is the definition of health.
